Responsibilities
New College of Florida is located in sunny Sarasota, on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida — an area known for its award-winning beaches, turquoise waters and arts and cultural attractions (from theatrical offerings to circus performances). Located about an hour’s drive from urban destinations like Tampa and St. Petersburg, Sarasota is an exhilarating coastal retreat.
New College currently invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
New College of Florida is launching a new collegiate women’s basketball program that will compete with some of the best competition in the NCAA and NAIA. We are looking for a basketball head coach who will lead the program based around our athletic department core values.
Areas of responsibilities include:
  • Recruitment of assistant coaches
  • Attracting student-athletes
  • Budget management
  • Practice and game planning execution
  • Creating game schedules

The incumbent will work with the Director of Athletics (DA) to implement a vision for New College basketball including but not limited to:
  • Daily practice plans
  • Innovative statistical analysis
  • Building a championship culture for the program.
  • Creating / Coaching a full slate of college games in Florida
  • Lead player mentorship – work with the student-athletes and lead a mentorship program to help our students
  • Recruitment of assistant coaches
  • Attracting student athletes who line up with our rigorous academic standards
  • Practice and game planning execution
  • Creating game schedules

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in education space
  • Experience in coaching
  • Experience in working with college/university level students
  • A positive influence that reacts in love and creates a disciplined culture
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed
  • A program builder who is humble and willing to do what it takes to grow the program
  • Strong communication and recruiting skills needed
  • Strong organizational skills needed

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Additional Information
Regular work hours are 8:30pm-5:30pm after recruiting / practice on weekdays. Weekends may be necessary depending on our game schedule. The incumbent will work with the college staff and work with the AD to create an innovative, competitive environment for the players. We are a small close-knit community that seeks to grow together on and off the field.
