Head of Operations - Global Manufacturer of Dairy Products
As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for developing operations strategy to support the business & management leads in maintaining rigorous operation processes throughout all plants in the U.S..
Location : Minnesota, U.S.
Salary : $140,000 - $170,000 (based on experience) + benefits package (potential relocation for the right candidate)
Do you have experience as a Head of Operations / Senior Operations experience within a Dairy Manufacturing business?
The Head of Operations would be responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of a multi-line manufacturing operation. This is hands on leadership role with a primary objective to partner with frontline teams and internal departments to drive overall improvement for the business.
To apply, you must have the following experience:
- Leadership experience: an ability to lead from the front within a similar Operations role.
- A thorough understanding of the Dairy industry; specifically, cheese, butter/spreads, eggs, creams & milk products
- A similar Operations role within a Dairy Business (8 + years)
- Strong problem-solving skills; analytical and data-driven; able to come up with creative solutions to unique challenges.
- A high level of mechanical aptitude and technical competence is ideal
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, goals, and results to various audiences.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Operations, Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering working in food manufacturing or agriculture while demonstrating progressive growth and increased responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee all phases of the manufacturing operations' employee relations and development, directly or through subordinates
- Fosters a safe and healthy work environment, and provides a high level of safety awareness through continual communication, education, and enforcement of safe work practices
- Work with executive leadership in identifying optimal processing/packing solutions and staffing while working directly with departments to optimize efficiency and throughput
- Provides leadership for day-to-day operations of the departments to ensure operational procedures are effective and efficient
- Manage department commitments in the areas of lean operating techniques, cost reduction, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and departmental performance measures
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of profitability, ROI, and process improvements
- Develops metrics with department supervisors to measure performance, control assets and related costs, and optimize operations equipment and associated maintenance
- Provide strategic vision and direction leveraging a hands-on approach in the creation of policies/practices and provide leadership for all manufacturing activities; as well as collaborating with other departments & functions (i.e., Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain)
- Seeks and utilizes new technology and processes to maximize efficiencies and ingredient conversion
- Responsible for achieving, sustaining, and continuously improving personnel safety, food safety, quality, line effectiveness, equipment optimization, personnel development, and financial results
- Develops, implements, and monitors annual goals and objectives for our operation that supports the strategic and financial objectives of the company
Qualifications required:
- Demonstrated ability to develop cross functional relationships, manage projects through their full life cycle (idea to implementation), and break down complex problems into simple solution
- Strong problem-solving skills; analytical and data-driven; able to come up with creative solutions to unique challenges.
- A high level of mechanical aptitude and technical competence is ideal
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field highly desired, or equivalent managerial experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, goals, and results to various audiences.
