HEAD OF EHS
Illuminate USA, a new standalone joint venture established by two global leaders in renewable energy, is building one of the largest solar panel manufacturing factories in the Western Hemisphere.This 1.1 million-square-foot factory is currently in advanced stages of preparation in the Columbus, Ohio area. Job Summary:
We are currently looking for an EHS Department Manager for our new factory in Central Ohio. This position reports to the Chief Human Resources and People Officer. This position will be responsible for building out the department and providing leadership, mentoring and development to a 30+ person team. In accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 management systems, establish and improve the company's EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) management system, conduct supervision and inspection, and ensure the effective and appropriate operation of the EHS system. Based on the company's planning and requirements, develop environmental, health, and safety policies, implement monitoring, inspection, and improvement of environmental, health, and safety practices to enhance the company culture.
Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the entire EHS management system including but not limited to environment, health, safety, and security programs.
•Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and leadership of the company's safety program and standard.
•Lead the emergency response team to ensure rapid response to incidents and preventative education by conducting emergency response drills to ensure awareness and preparedness.
•Regularly communicate, attend meetings, and incorporate government requirements into programs and plans to provide policy support in safety and environmental protection.
•Responsible for developing and maintaining all EHS information reports for internal and external purposes.
•Ensure EHS compliance through inspections, and rectification of non-compliance issues.
•Responsible for the safety, environmental, and occupational health procedures for new construction, expansion, and renovation projects in partnership with the general contractor and project management team.
•Oversee onsite security team.
•Complete other tasks assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
•Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
•Typically requires 10+ years of related experience, 5+ years of manufacturing leadership in EHS experience preferred.
•Ability to lead, mentor, manage and develop 30+ person team required.
•Strong Knowledge of productions safety & lean production required.
•Strong Knowledge of ISO9001, and Microsoft Office preferred.
•High levels of adaptability, learning ability and demonstrates curiosity and innovative thinking.
•Ability to speak publicly with confidence and poise.
•Ability to work under pressure, coordination ability, planning and execution ability.
•Multi-national / global work experience a plus.
•A willingness to travel internationally as part of the onboarding plan will be expected in the first 3-6 months of employment.
