Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Hardware Engineer (Calibration). SIGN-ON BONUS APPROVED!!!


The Hardware Engineer will apply physics and engineering principles, mathematical analysis, and modeling and simulation to support development and analysis of advanced sensor systems, technologies, and algorithms. You will perform research, analysis, evaluation, development and test of technologies from industry, academia, and government organizations, to include Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS), and open source technologies. You will also consider custom approaches to solve challenging problems in sensing. Additionally, you will provide systems engineering recommendations and assist with the planning and execution of development efforts for complex sensor systems, and systems of systems. Ideal candidates will apply their analytical skills to a broad range of systems engineering activities in support of Northrop Grumman projects and programs.


In short, the position requires a flexible, versatile, and innovative individual who is well-versed across a range of technical subjects and disciplines related to radar, mastery of a few, and an eagerness for continued learning and collaboration with team members.


What You'll Get To Do


Work was part of a calibration team to:


  • Refine calibration conops and procedures
  • Support software team as they implement calibration algorithms
  • Execute tests and evaluate results to assess how well calibrations are working
  • Implement calibration algorithms in matlab, run simulations
  • Develop calibration test procedures


Position will be based in our Colorado Springs airport facility.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills


  • Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret
  • Experience with MATLAB/PYTHON or equivalent programming/analysis languages
  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or other applicable STEM field; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree in a corresponding field; 0 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Experience in Radar signal processing
  • Familiar in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS
  • Familiar with microwave test equipment (VNA, signal generators, etc.)
  • Ability to travel OCONUS
  • Familiar in using a discrepancy management tool, such as Jira, Bugzilla, etc.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills


  • Systems Engineering
  • Radar system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis
  • Innovative technology concept development
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C/C++, Fortran and equivalent programming languages
  • Algorithm development and testing
  • Substantial domain subject matter expertise and extensive experience in multiple areas:
  • TS/SCI security clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain one after employment
  • Radar waveforms and digital signal processing (DSP) methods
  • High Performance Computing /Parallelization techniques
  • Radar antenna and active electronically scanned array (AESA) system principles, digital beamforming, and array processing
  • Radar principles
  • Business development
  • Principles of object detection, tracking, classification and related algorithms
  • Multi-static radar principles
  • Radar imaging and processing techniques
  • Electronic Protection (EP) and clutter mitigation principles


Salary Min $81,500 - Max $138,600
