A class incumbent is involved in general groundskeeping and routine maintenance work on State grounds.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Groundskeeper I

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
Conditions of Hire
Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware Executive Branch participates in the Federal E-Verify system where the State will provide the federal government with each new hires Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. For more information refer to our job seeker resources.
Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.

- Assists in the maintenance of driveways by sweeping, grading and repairing holes; painting and repairing tables and benches.
- Removes snow/ice from driveways, steps and walkways; rakes leaves; removes trash, debris, materials and supplies.
- May assist trades personnel in painting, minor repairs as required.
- Performs under close supervision routine maintenance of lawn, flowers, shrubs and trees involving planting, transplanting, weeding, mulching, pruning, mowing and trimming.
- Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and hand tools including mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, edgers, grass shears and trimmers.
