Job Description
This recruitment will be used to fill One part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Graphic Designer position for the Student Health Services department at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Division of Student Affairs enhances learning and strengthens the educational experience of Oregon State University students.
This graphic designer role will support Student Health Services, a unit within the division that provides leadership for health and wellness on campus and contributes to student success through the provision of medical care, prevention, advocacy, and wellness programs and services.
Working with the marketing and communication staff, as well as SHS employees in the clinical, prevention, advocacy and wellness units, this position will assist with the creative conception and development of print and digital marketing campaigns for the department.
This position will be an integral part of the SHS Marketing & Communications team and require a 10 to 20-hour commitment during the academic year with an option to return for the following academic years.
Position Duties
  • Design printed awareness and marketing materials such as posters, brochures, publications, flyers, and signage
  • Design and illustration of digital imagery for the SHS website, social media, video, PowerPoint and other electronic publication
  • This position will participate in team or one-on-one meetings to conceptualize projects and provide status updates
  • Other related duties may be assigned as needed; for example, set-up and/or staffing of on-campus outreach events

  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Ability to give and take respectful, constructive criticism
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Intermediate knowledge of visual design principles (contrast, hierarchy, shape, dominance, white space, balance, color, etc.)
  • Time management skills
  • Flexible, positive attitude
  • Student in OSU’s graphic design program OR new media communications program OR demonstrated experience in layout and typography
  • A portfolio (print or online) showing examples of visual design work and/or multimedia production
  • Attention to detail
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Understanding of and/or experience working within the OSU brand guidelines
  • Digital video, motion graphics or audio production skills
  • Ability to illustrate objects, people and ideas
  • Digital photography skills, indoor and outdoor
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
The student worker generally will be required to work between 10 and 20 hours per week (with a maximum of 20 hours).
This position is a hybrid role that requires in-person attendance each week.
