Job Description

Title : Grant Writer

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Earnings: $23.00 per hour

Mission : COA Youth & Family Centers nurtures children, supports families, and builds strong and resilient communities - one child, one family, one community at a time.

This position is responsible for the administration of the agency’s grants and external communication. Specific areas of responsibility include research of funding sources, preparation of proposals and final reports, ensuring timely submission of reports, and tracking progress of the entire process from start to finish, as well as writing agency communications pieces. It also participates in overall development planning and fundraising/marketing objectives.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of COA’s mission, programs, target population and strategic vision.
  • Ensure grant process is efficient and effective.
  • Research, identify and reach viable new sources of government, corporate and foundation support.
  • Work with program staff to track deliverables so grant is implemented with fidelity
  • Model appropriate behavior at all times. This includes developing and maintaining appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with colleagues, visitors, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support all development department functions and as needed, provide general office assistance.
Attend COA events to support programs.

    Qualifications

    Education/Knowledge/Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or three years’ experience in a development office.
    • Experience in grant application processes and/or project management.
    • High proficiency in standard office software, especially Excel, Google suite, video conferencing, etc.

    Skills/Personal Qualities/Attitude

    • Proven ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form.
    • Embody COA Values with a passion for serving others
    • Excellent analytical and research skills
    • Effective interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships. Cultural competency. Respect for diversity of all types.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to read, analyze, write, and edit.

    Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

    No special physical requirements for this position other than those associated with an office: sitting for long periods of time, typing, etc.
