Job Description

Are you looking for a mission-driven non-profit where your skills can help people in need around the world? At the Jewish United Fund, we take pride in our mission and in having a work culture that fosters a sense of belonging and feels rewarding, supportive, and inclusive. We have a hybrid schedule and offer generous benefits including up to 22 days of paid time off (starting with 15), up to 11 sick days (starting with 7), and up to 21 paid holidays. The salary range for this role is $45,000-$50,000.

What you’ll be responsible for:
You will be responsible for submitting and sustaining grants, private funding, and government revenue for a variety of programs – from basic human needs to Jewish education and engagement, and everything in between. Ultimately, you’ll be helping generate and sustain grant revenue for JUF and our affiliated agencies, directly furthering our mission every day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting JUF Campaign and mandatory campaign-related activities on an ongoing basis and assisting with other duties as needed.
  • Researching and identifying new funding opportunities, including the cultivation of relationships with foundation representatives.
  • Taking lead responsibility for the submission of grant proposals, reports, and budgets for a range of programs (examples include but are not limited to hunger relief efforts, social service programs, Jewish teen engagement, support for individuals with disabilities, support for Holocaust survivors, security related initiatives, and JUF’s work in Israel). This includes working with other JUF departments and agency partners in the areas of program planning, drafting narratives, preparing budgets, and tracking results and outcomes.

What you need to succeed:
REQUIRED:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-3 years’ professional experience, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Exceptional ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and work with senior staff
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks, work under deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, and traditions
  • Experience with grant writing, program development, or government grant writing

What you’ll love about us:
At JUF, you can be part of one of the largest non-profit social welfare institutions in Illinois. We provide food, refuge, healthcare, education, emergency assistance, and essential services to 500,000 Chicagoans of all faiths and millions of Jews around the world.

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k) with base contribution and match. Additional health and wellness benefits, financial benefits, professional training, tuition reimbursement, and much more.
