Job Description
Graduate Program Assistant- Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry

Reporting to the institutional Director of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry, the graduate program assistant will provide support in coordinating campus-wide undergraduate research activities and initiatives at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Supports students currently engaged in undergraduate research with enhanced support and resources.

  • Assists in marketing and promoting undergraduate research activities to VCU students (both summer and academic year opportunities).

  • Supports students seeking undergraduate research opportunities, including conducting informational meetings, distributing promotional materials, facilitating open houses, and providing workshops with students, faculty, and staff on UROP-related issues.

  • Advises potential student applicants and faculty mentors.

  • Manages UROP postings in Student Opportunity Center

  • Assists with Federal Work Study Research Assistantship recruitment and onboarding process (in coordination with Coordinator),

  • Facilitates UROP award announcements for all undergraduate research programs.

  • Assists with planning and coordination of Annual Poster Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creativity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an undergraduate researcher.

  • Experience mentoring and/or advising undergraduate students.

  • Strong writing, public speaking, student engagement skills.

  • Interest in academic program management and coordination.

  • Previous or current research experience.
