8 hpw; 8-hr shifts (10a-6:30p); every other weekend

:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Trains under the supervision of Pharmacy Director & Managers
  • Supervises mentors and assists in training pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • Ability to triage & prioritize tasks to provide timely delivery of medications while supervising technicians.
  • Ensures correct compounding and mixing of special formulas, chemotherapy and sterile IV products.
  • Prepares and dispenses medication orders for patients.
  • Ensures all legal and professional requirements are adhered to for narcotics and other controlled substances.
  • Ability to work with other pharmacists while providing excellent pharmaceutical care.
  • Reviews comprehensive drug data file to evaluate orders for drug-drug interactions, accuracy in drug selection, dose and frequency.
  • Provides drug information to patients, nurses, physicians, trainees and other employees.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, providers & ancillary staff.
  • Reviews patient profile for allergies and adverse reactions.
  • Is not responsible for “opening or closing” the pharmacy; does not work alone, works with a Clinical Staff Pharmacist who is registered.
  • Discusses questionable medication orders with providers.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a hospital with unit dose, IV additive, chemotherapy and computerization preferred.
  • B.S. Degree/Pharm D in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.

Registration/Certification:

  • Must have Verification of Graduation from a college/school of Pharmacy accredited by the ACPE
  • Must be eligible to obtain dates to take NAPLEX & law exams in Massachusetts by the Board of Pharmacy; Must pass the boards within 2 testing attempts.
