Global Sourcing Manager

Reports to Controller

Summary

The Global Sourcing Manager will oversee a team responsible for procuring components and finished goods to support customer demand. This includes a level of oversight over every stage of the supply chain from raw material acquisition to finished goods production. Analyzing operational performance and resolving issues with suppliers (internal/external) is a critical part of the job.

In this role, the Global Sourcing Manager must understand each step of the purchasing, manufacturing, and distribution process to optimize efficiency and delivery performance to customers. Collaboration with other departments across the business is vital for success. This includes a keen focus on serving internal customers, such as Sales and Engineering, who directly interfaces with our customers.

Oversight of inventory levels, lead times, and ordering parameters is a critical function of cash management for the business. This includes analyzing demand patterns and forecasts to set proper levels of inventory. Working closely with Forecasting, Sales, and suppliers to set inventory levels is critical for the financial success of the business.

Leadership

  • Maintain supplier relationships as well as current terms and conditions of purchases.

  • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure the overall success of the company.
  • Provide thought leadership in bringing solutions through process improvement, best practices, tools, and technology that will continue to set our company apart from its competition and support new business opportunities.

Management

  • Communicate a clear vision and achieve a shared understanding of the day-to-day operational activities that support a high-functioning team.
  • Balance empowerment of all employees with appropriate controls. Empower team members to resolve issues by delegating tasks to the appropriate level.
  • Effectively create and support process enhancement initiatives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Prioritize the activities and the allocation of resources within the team to best support company and customer demand.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, guidance, and direct daily operations of the sourcing team to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership for the department in meeting with suppliers to establish and implement quality criteria and continuous improvement.
  • Lead supplier qualification process in collaboration with the quality team.
  • Define and execute global supply chain strategy to diversify supply base and/or further develop existing sources to facilitate continued growth and alignment with business direction for new products. The strategic needs include global commercial competitiveness, technical ability and innovation, capacity, quality, and ability to meet delivery/timeline expectations.
  • Develop and maintain metrics to assess the effectiveness and improve the performance of our vendors
  • Implement process improvements to more effectively utilize the ERP system.
  • Develop and implement a supplier scorecard supporting the business and customer needs, assessing current supply base to identify and remediate gaps.
  • Define sourcing best practices, create and maintain related processes and procedures.
  • Analyze cost savings opportunities and implement changes through global sourcing initiatives.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects to implement improvements in inventory management, including review of excess & obsolete inventory and supply chain efficiency to achieve measurable results.

Qualifications

· Strong written and verbal communications

  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • International and domestic travel up to 10%.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive supply chain experience, sourcing/procurement preferable.
  • Advanced understanding of ERP systems.
  • High level of analytical skill combined with excellent computer skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Effective trouble shooting, problem solving and organizational skills. Able to handle frequent interruptions, meet tight deadlines, and handle conflict in an effective manner.
