Position Summary


The Global Regulatory Specialist is a crucial member of the Global Regulatory team and provides valuable support to other internal partners and external parties by actively managing regulatory issues focusing on those related to a wide variety of high risk issues including environmental and product safety issues. This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Global Regulatory.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support managing and further developing the eBay Regulatory Portal.
  • Regular domestic and occasional international business travel is required.
  • Collaborate closely, engage and follow up with regulators and monitoring authorities to refer new investigations and drive progress with ongoing cases.
  • Be recognized as key internal partner and subject matter authority on prohibited and restricted items and the relevant eBay policies.
  • Conduct investigations and analysis of non-compliant/potentially criminal conduct.
  • Represent eBay externally by building valuable relationships through various outreach activities, meetings, presentations, and events with government, industry, academia, and other relevant entities.
  • Handle and support critical issues from regulators and monitoring authorities, media, and non-government organizations from around the world.
  • Identify new trends on various high risk regulatory issues on the eBay marketplace with a focus on using methodologies and reports generated from data. Assess involved regulatory, payments, and brand risks. Develop strategies and implement measures to address these activities.
  • Be proficient with eBay’s customer service tools.


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required, but JD is preferred
  • 10 or more years of experience related to regulatory issues; non-compliant / illegal products, conducting criminal investigations, risk management, financial services, or high-tech crime.
  • Effective and confirmed negotiation skills and have the ability to influence decisions and others.
  • This is a Hybrid position, which will require this person to work out of either our Austin Texas, Washington DC, or Salt Lake City Utah office
  • Fluency in written and verbal English is essential. One of the following languages, Chinese, French, Italian or Spanish is a plus.
  • 2-5 Years Proven Project Management Experience.2-5 years experience with a federal government agency is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of eBay marketplaces, with experience in both buying and selling and a strong belief in making the internet a safe, viable means of commerce.
