This new hire will work at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD and will be eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month). The Global Sustainability Director will report to the Chief Sustainability Officer.

Position Overview
This position will lead ESG external engagement, especially coordinating inquiries from customers, investors, UN Global Compact, NGOs, and other key stakeholders. In addition, this role will be responsible for industry landscape tracking and providing ESG trends to the global functions and business units. This position collaborates and connects the dots across the company and develops a very strong understanding of where the industry can go and how McCormick can be best positioned to seize opportunities based on its strategic goals aligned with our Purpose-led Performance (PLP) imperatives. Working across functions, this position will collate global data and be responsible for providing requisite information for commercial teams and all internal stakeholders, as well as serve as internal knowledge lead on ESG matters. This position reports directly to the Chief Sustainability Officer and requires up to 20% travel.
Key Responsibilities
In partnership with Chief Sustainability Officer, develop and lead strategic partnerships with UNGC, NGOs (CARE, WWF, NCBA-CLUSA, others), IFC, USAID, World Benchmarking Alliance, Industry associations (Consumer Brands Association, Ameripen, Consumer Goods Forum, etc). Partner with the PLP Senior Climate Director in policy development and execution, including future PLP strategy enhancements.
Serve as Project Manager supporting PLP execution. Proactively supports ESG rating process, acting as a critical liaison between McCormick and ESG entities. Serve as coordinator for Climate and Environmental Sustainability reporting and be familiar with leading metrics and reporting standards/frameworks. Responsible for Annual ESG ratings submissions, including CDP, CSA, EMF and other pertinent reporting frameworks.
Develop and maintain relationships with key ESG Stakeholders and nongovernmental organizations such as Corporate Knights, Just Capital, Barron’s, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the UN Global Compact, the World Wildlife Fund, World Benchmarking Organization, others.
Support data needs for all key stakeholders; serve as internal knowledge lead on ESG matters. Partner with business units, procurement, and supply chain functions to develop key strategies for achieving the Sustainability goals and ensuring that centralized data are accessible for customer and stakeholder needs. Support annual LTP development and delivery.
Represent McCormick at global industry councils and working groups globally.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in scientific or engineering field such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry or Sustainability curriculum.
10-15 years’ experience leading Sustainability in manufacturing, CPG, or other industry.
Extensive knowledge of best practices in the industry on Sustainability and ESG matters, including policies and standards.
Strong technical competency in developing global strategies based on science, external reporting frameworks and international climate agreements.
The ability to work globally considering the regional differences in cultures and work practices.
A key understanding of media and associated issues.
Demonstrated history of strategic leadership and broad-based thinking balancing effective controls with a vision of future needs for a growing corporation.
Demonstrated history of effectively coordinating conflicting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
The ability to represent the business on Environmental and Sustainability matters with third parties including key customers, investors, regulatory officials and trade associations.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Technical knowledge of manufacturing facilities and associated EHS management systems.
The ability to explain and train non-experts on Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.
Record of achievement in using effective influence and communication skills with individuals at all levels and functions.
The ability to develop key metrics which show company Environmental and Sustainability performance.
