: The City of Chesapeake Public Works department is seeking an enthusiastic individual who is detail-oriented to provide management of GIS data focusing on storm water systems.

The GIS Specialist will perform a wide array of activities, including data maintenance and administration, web development, and spatial data creation of the City's Geographic Information System. They will work in close collaboration with the City's core GIS team who are responsible for city wide technology projects and infrastructure management.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform data maintenance from a variety of source materials (imagery, surveys, as-builts, plats, etc.).
• Create information products (maps, reports, etc.) using ArcGIS software, geoprocessing tools, and other methods.
• Demonstrated cartographic design and high-quality map standards.
• User and administrator experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products in an Enterprise environment (Desktop, Pro, Portal, Geodatabases, ArcGIS Online).
• Provide GIS support to Emergency Operations during events such as hurricane recovery and snow/ice control.
• Provide end-user support services for GIS software and web applications.
• Maintain data for key infrastructure including storm water facilities, street landscapes, and other assets.
• Develop tools and templated applications to support staff from many departments and the community.

Required Qualifications: VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in geographic information systems or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geospatial sciences or related field preferred.
• Knowledge in government operations, city planning, or related fields.
• Proficient with reading and interpreting construction record drawings, plats and surveys.
• ESRI technical training and certifications
