As the General Counsel at Reach, you will join a growing company and team as a mid/senior-level executive responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance across all functions of the business. In addition to overseeing all legal matters, regulatory compliance, and risk-mitigation, you will play a crucial role in negotiations, contracts, and intellectual property. Please note that this is a part time role which will involve working 2-3 days in a week.

Responsibilities:

Legal Strategy and Advisory:

  • Stay informed of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the organization and advise on necessary actions.
  • Develop and implement the organization's overall legal strategy in alignment with its business objectives.
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and other departments on a wide range of legal issues.
  • Identify potential legal risks and proactively devise strategies to mitigate them.

Contract Management:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to standardize contract templates and improve contract management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and protect the organization's interests.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft various types of contracts, including vendor agreements, client contracts, and employment agreements.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct internal investigations and audits to identify compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

  • Evaluate legal claims and advise on appropriate strategies for dispute resolution.
  • Manage and oversee the organization's litigation matters, including coordinating with external legal counsel.
  • Represent the organization in legal proceedings, including negotiations, settlement discussions, and court appearances.

Corporate Governance and Ethics:

  • Develop and enforce ethical standards and policies across the organization.
  • Provide guidance on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Advise the board of directors and senior management on governance matters and best practices.

Intellectual Property:

  • Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets.
  • Oversee the filing and maintenance of intellectual property registrations.
  • Protect the organization's intellectual property rights and defend against infringement claims.

Risk Management:

  • Identify legal and operational risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with other departments to establish effective risk management processes and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Proven experience as a General Counsel or in a mid/senior legal role within a corporate/legal department.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a legal team.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align legal strategies with business objectives.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Active membership in the bar association of the relevant jurisdiction.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate law, contract law, compliance, and other relevant legal areas.
