Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for overseeing the Global Animal Partnership (GAP) operations including operation of broiler farms, contract grower management and department employees, with the goal of improving the welfare of animals in agriculture.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  • Manage GAP producer relationships, broiler growing agreements and goods and services, monitoring performance and associated costs ensuring company objectives are met
  • Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement
  • Conduct GAP related training on GAP requirements for appropriate personnel and grower locations
  • Perform evaluation of routes and broiler farm performance as it relates to live costs
  • Manage day to day scheduling of live birds ensuring production schedules are met, verify that the animals have been raised following comprehensive standards focused on their care and welfare.
  • Conduct animal welfare audits to ensure consistent audit procedures and application of the guidelines to ensure compliance adherence
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
  • Follow and promote all safety initiatives, helping to maintain a zero accident culture
  • Oversee assigned GAP designated broiler operations through established procedures and guidelines to ensure flocks are compliant (i.e. placement of chicks, flock health monitoring, etc.) with all company requirements, GAP guidelines, animal welfare and federal and state regulations, laws and guidelines to meet production schedules
  • Ensure reporting is accurately completed and recorded as required
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This role is a Leader of People role with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving history
  • Bachelors’ degree related discipline from an accredited institution
    • Combination of experience and education may be substituted for degree

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated five (5) years’ leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
  • Extensive knowledge of GAP requirements as related to poultry
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner
  • Proficient computer and math skills
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in poultry grow-out
  • Must have exceptional communication, both verbal and written, attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
  • Follow and ensure others follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an outside environment (including inclement weather) to visually inspect birds; walking from one to several miles per day
  • Ability to work around strong and possibly foul odors such as ammonia
  • Ability to travel between grower sites
