The Furniture Designer produces schematic, presentation and production drawings for custom furnishings, light fixtures and accessories under the guidance of Principals, oversees fabrication of custom pieces, coordinates with design studio & outside vendors, and maintains company furnishings drawing library.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Knowledge of the principals of scale and proportion.
• Oversee production process: reviewing shop drawings, visits to vendors production facilities for in-progress and final inspections.
• Lead design and production process of custom furniture pieces, light fixtures and miscellaneous home furnishings for T&M’s projects. This includes working with Principals to develop concept sketches, presentation drawings, 3D prototypes and detailed drawings for fabrication.
• Coordinate with Architectural Team on production of Furniture Plans and elevations/renderings of pieces in situ.
• Maintain company furnishings drawing library and maintain company design standards.
• Stay current on furniture industry innovations and standards. Foster relationships with fabricators and vendors.
• Knowledge and experience in upholstery, case goods, metals, woodworking, and fabrication of high-end materials.

OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide general support to Principal and Design Teams on executing special assignments.

REQUIRED:

• Degree in Interior Design, Product Design or equivalent of combination of education and experience; and
• Team player – works to ensure team goals are met or exceeded
• Excellent customer service and communication skills; and
• Five years experience working in a high-end residential interior design, furniture design and/or product design; and
• Strong organizational and computer skills; and
• Proficiency in hand and computer drafting; and

PREFERRED:

• Hand rendering/sketching abilities
• Prior experience working in an interior design and/or architecture firm and/or high-end custom furnishing company.
• Traditional/Classic design experience
