Job Description

Summary

The Child Care Center in Norwich has undergone a transformation! We have just shifted to a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach. Reggio values relationships above all else, along with the ?hundred languages of children,? the endless creative ways children make sense of and express themselves in the world. We take great pride in our philosophy and working practices:
these make us a bonafide children's school.

We are recruiting one additional teacher to join us a PreK team in a full-time position. You? You have prior experience and are passionate about early childhood education: this is your chosen profession. You have a creative bent, love of learning (for you as well as children), and are keen on collaborating and reflecting with colleagues on a daily basis. We are looking for a go-getter, an educator raring to contribute to something new and profound for children, and parents too. You?ll join a Core team in a PreK classroom and get well oriented to children, routines, classroom culture and Reggio-inspired approaches. We can't wait to welcome you!

Duties

Join a teacher team to lead a classroom of PreK children. Take children on explorations on our beautiful wooded property, engage with science educators from our next-door neighbor the Montshire Museum of Science, collaborate with our atelierista (art teacher) who oversees our new art studio, facilitate a Reggio-inspired program propelled by students' curiosity and interests that is co-constructed by teachers and children. Reflect with colleagues on children's thinking and learning to plan next steps and create thought-provoking documentation to be shared with parents, colleagues and students themselves.

Requirements

Early childhood education is your chosen field of profession. You adore working with young children and reflecting daily on all aspects of their learning and development. You have a creative bent, love of professional learning, and dedication to working collaboratively with colleagues throughout our school house. We seek go-getters, educators raring to contribute to something new and extraordinary for children, and their parents too. We require a college degree and at least one year of teaching experience in some venue. We can't wait to welcome you!

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching experience preferred (not required) in the Reggio Emilia approach. We will orient and train you in REA.

Benefits

Great benefit package for full-time employees: 90% coverage of Blue Cross Blue Shield Standard Silver health insurance, along with 100% coverage of Delta Dental and vision insurance; 4 weeks vacation to start; ongoing professional development and embedded coaching by our Reggio coach. Substantial tuition discount for staff who have children enrolled at our Center. Staff travel on Study Tours every two years to Reggio Emilia in Italy or to the Boulder Journey School in Colorado. Hourly wage ranges from $17-$23, determined by your education and experience in the education field.
