The Counselor-In-Training will be responsible for providing counseling and other therapeutic services. The Counselor-In-Training will carry a client caseload and assist in providing therapeutic services while coordinating with other substance abuse treatment professionals. Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure that all weekly clinical audit items are completed in a timely manner.
- Provide substantial client documentation through treatment plan updates, group notes, progress notes, discharge/transfer summaries and utilization reviews.
- Discuss with client goals are for treatment, including immediate and long-term goals.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings and weekly clinical supervision.
- Assign leadership roles to clients and discuss dorm captain notes during the morning clinical meeting.
- Collect and approve request slips for sponsor visits, family visits, outside appointments, etc.
- Adhere to all confidentiality laws and maintain ethical, professional boundaries with clients.
- Participate, when asked, in community education and marketing initiatives.
- Any other related tasks that are assigned.
- Create an individualized treatment plan review outlining progress in treatment and completion of objectives.
- Complete needed documentation for compliance and client records in a timely fashion.
- Use the problems identified in the Clinical Assessment to create an individualized Master Treatment Plan that will guide the client’s clinical care and direction.
- Utilize outcome surveys to make appropriate changes to the client’s Master Treatment Plan based on the results.
- Complete the Clinical Assessment and initial treatment plan as part of the admissions process.
- Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions.
- Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives, making adjustments where indicated to achieve all corrective action goals.
- Required to maintain state trainee status thru applicable agency.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, email and EHR systems.
- Satisfactory criminal background check.
- Attention to detail and completeness of all clinical notes and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Addiction counseling and/or substance abuse treatment history.
- Be working toward full licensure with applicable agency.
- Satisfactory drug screen.
- Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
Salary Range:
Salary ranges from $21.00 to $21.50 an hour.
The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty, and training.
