Full Charge Bookkeeper - Remote | Hybrid

Are you a talented and experienced bookkeeper with a passion for promoting social justice? We're looking for a skilled Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team! As a key member of our organization, you'll help us maintain strong financial controls, timely and accurate financial statements, and fiscal health year after year.
As a Full Charge Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for ensuring that all revenue and expense items are properly recorded, maintaining documentation for auditors, and tracking pledges and receipts. You'll also prepare monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations, and work with a contracted accountant on journal entries and advanced postings.
In addition to financial accounting, you'll also provide financial management, analysis, and guidance. This includes utilizing budgeting, analyzing financial statements, and comparing actuals to budgeted amounts to ensure accurate stewardship of our combined annual budget of $3 to 4.5 million. You'll also work with our Operations Director to implement and refine financial controls, and prepare regular financial and narrative reports for the Director of Operations, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
As a Full Charge Bookkeeper, you'll serve as a liaison to external auditors, prepare financial records for the audit, and work with outside accountants to prepare 990s and ensure accurate payroll tax filings. You'll also assist with enrolling/terminating employee benefits and reconciling benefit invoices, and collect timesheet data on a bi-weekly basis.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to balance a "big picture, long-term view" with a day-to-day focus. You'll exercise discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality, and you'll have strong data entry skills with minimal errors. You'll also have experience collaborating with a diverse team with different strengths and weaknesses.
Ideal candidates will have knowledge of GAAP and FASB standards and IRS regulations, as well as experience preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, and overseeing accounts receivable/payable. You should have at least 1-2 years of bookkeeping experience with accounting software suitable for medium to large organizations, and be comfortable using spreadsheet software, Microsoft and Google products, and Zoom/video conferencing products.

We're open to remote candidates who can deliver high-quality results, but we prefer candidates who can work in-person at least once a week.
