Hybrid (from Oakland) or remote | Very flexible hours | $100,000 - 140,000 USD per annum
Are you a skilled frontend engineer with expertise in building user-friendly web applications using React or Angular? Do you have a strong understanding of modern front-end development practices and a passion for creating elegant and performant user interfaces? If so, we are looking for a talented Frontend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our cutting-edge software solutions.
Reporting to the Lead Front End Engineer, you will play a crucial role in FiberSense’s development and engineering team. You will design and build the company's user-facing software and interfaces. Your expertise in front-end technologies and best practices will contribute to the overall user experience and ensure the smooth operation of the company's products.
Your manager and the software team will be based in Oakland, USA, however you can be based anywhere across the USA.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Work with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in front-end development and continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- Implement efficient and reusable front-end components and libraries.
- Ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility.
- Write clean, modular, and well-documented code following established coding standards and best practices.
- Develop and maintain high-quality frontend applications using React or Angular frameworks.
- Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and design mockups into interactive and responsive user interfaces.
Within 90 days, you will have:
- Completed onboarding and have an understanding of the product we’re building
- Reviewed user stories and designs
- Started with deeper diving and coding on one of the epics

Essential:
- Good understanding of software development best practices, including testing and code quality standards.
- Solid understanding of frontend development concepts, including component-based architecture, state management, and data flow.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with CSS preprocessors like Sass or LESS.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.
- Experience building web applications using React or Angular frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug frontend issues.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Highly desired:
- Knowledge of backend technologies and RESTful API design.
- Understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with state management libraries like Redux or MobX.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development.
- Experience with UI/UX design principles and usability testing.
- Knowledge of frontend build tools like Webpack or Babel.
