The Newbury Boston at One Newbury Street, located in the premier shopping and dining neighborhood of Boston’s Back Bay is an iconic property originally opened in 1927 as one of the first Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and most recently was the Taj Boston. The Guest Services Ambassador/Front Desk Agent is responsible for providing attentive, courteous and efficient service to all guests during check-in, throughout their stay, and at checkout, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy.

  • Must close interactions appropriately
  • Be able to complete credit check, room rate verification report, and housekeeping report.
  • Review Front Office log and Trace File daily.
  • Ensure logging and delivery of packages, mail and messages to guests and meeting rooms.
  • Complete daily shift checklist.
  • Be familiar with hospitality terminology and usage of luxury language as per Forbes standards.
  • Assist guests with safe deposit boxes.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Have knowledge of emergency procedures and assist as needed.
  • Be familiar with all in-house groups.
  • Follow all standards required by the Forbes Five Star service such as
  • Obtain all necessary information when taking room reservations and follow the rate-quoting scenario.
  • Follow all cash handling and credit policies as per Highgate standards and PCI compliance.
  • Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Greet and welcome all guests approaching the Front Desk.
  • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must show genuine interest
  • Answer inquires from guests regarding restaurants, transportation, entertainment, etc.
  • Use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times when communicating with other employees.
  • Handle check-ins and checkouts in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Be aware of all rates, packages and special promotions.
  • Balance and prepare individual paperwork for closing of shift according to hotel standards.
  • Fully comprehend and be able to operate all relevant aspects of the Front Desk computer system.
  • Maintain proper operation of the computer and telephone console and ensure that all hotel standards are met (if applicable).

The Japanese Guest Service Agent (Full-Time) is primarily responsible to assist Japanese speaking guests, but will also be responsible for providing attentive, courteous and efficient service to all guests throughout their stay, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy.
