Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced freelance editorial writer to write quarterly publisher letters for a quarterly magazine intended for a diverse and dynamic audience within the creative industry. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in writing, editing, and a keen understanding of the trends and issues currently impacting the creative sectors, including arts, design, illustration, photography, media, entertainment, and technology.


Responsibilities

  • Writing, editing, and proofreading the publisher letters quarterly, communicating with clarity, coherence, impact, and the brand voice.
  • Submitting drafts in a timely manner and implementing feedback as needed.
  • Collaborating with our in-house editorial team to ensure that the letters align with our overall messaging, style, and tone.
  • Proofreading content for errors and inconsistencies, and ensuring that all content aligns with industry standards and practices.
  • Presenting complex topics relevant to the creative industry in an accessible and engaging manner.


Qualifications


  • Deep understanding of and passion for the creative industry, including current trends and challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to accept and incorporate feedback.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • A minimum of 3 years of editorial writing experience, ideally with a focus on the creative industry.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into accessible content.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Docs).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and 2-3 writing samples (preferably demonstrating knowledge in the creative industry). These documents should showcase your writing style, ability to communicate topics effectively, and understanding of the creative industry.


This is a remote, freelance position.
