Job Description
THE POSITION


Do you dream of working in the fascinating world of law enforcement forensics? The Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Forensic Services is looking for qualified individuals to fill a Forensic Scientist Trainee position within the Harrisburg Regional Laboratory.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK


As a Forensic Scientist Trainee, you will p articipate in a structured serology training program designed to develop knowledge, understanding and technical skill related to physiological fluid analysis, hair identification, report preparation and courtroom testimony. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of a laboratory supervisor who assigns and reviews work in progress and upon completion. Work requires limited technical skills and is performed with increasing independence as experience is gained.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment.

  • Work Hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.


QUALIFICATIONS


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, forensic science, or a closely related physical or natural science, which includes or is supplemented by 16 college credits in chemistry.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • You must pass criminal history and background investigations.
  • This job title has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in this job title, the selected candidate regardless of their current job, must submit a Report of Medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer.
