Job Description

Responsible for providing foreign language instruction that develops each student’s cultural interests and enables students to become competent language and cultural learners, while embracing and preserving the Montessori philosophy.

Description

At The Montessori Children’s School of Jacksonville, NC, we believe each child is a unique individual with their own style of learning. We recognize that children need to learn at their own pace and when stimulated properly, learn to spontaneously thrive in a positive environment because they are innately inquisitive, curious and creative. This is a part time position working Mon-Fri for 15-20 hours per week.

Job Duties

  • Evaluate student progress through observation and task completions and adjust curriculum and delivery to support engagement and interest in learning and mastery.
  • Develops and implements developmentally appropriate lessons supporting student foreign language development through discussion, direct instruction, demonstrations, and independent practice using a variety of proven methods.


Education

  • Fluent in Spanish and/ or French. Other languages will be considered.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in language arts, foreign language, early childhood education, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience teaching in a primary or elementary school setting in foreign language.
  • Knowledge of Montessori philosophy a plus.


This position requires extended periods of standing, walking, and engaging with students both one-on-one and in group settings.

**Compensation: Dependent on candidate's qualifications.
