Job Details


    Purpose: The Food Service Assistant provides entry-level assistance in food service operations. Will work under the direction of the Lead Baker to prepare and bake products for the district Food Service programs.
    Hours: 4 hours per day
    Schedule: Evening shift; Sunday -Thursday, 6pm-10pm
    Contract Status: Regular/Probationary
    FLSA Status: Non-exempt - Classified
    Start Date: April 7, 2022
    Calendar: 179 Work Days
    Rate: $15.02 per hour
    Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.
    Notes: The start time of 6pm is negotiable. Open until filled with earliest review of applications on May 5, 2023.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Assists the kitchen manager to implement the food service program in accord with federal, state, and district food service standards and procedures.
    • Will work under the direction of the Lead Baker to prepare and bake products for the district Food Service programs.
    • Receives and accurately accounts for cash.
    • Provides other related services as assigned.
    • Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
    • Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the district's discipline and instructional programs.
    • Provides standard first aid, as defined by the American Red Cross, in a competent and compassionate manner.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Basic knowledge of institutional food preparation techniques, including ability to operate institutional food preparation equipment.
    • Provide proof of COVID vaccine required.
    • Knowledge of state nutritional and sanitary guidelines applicable to food service programs.
    • Hold a current food handler's card.
