Job Description
Overview
Under the general supervision of the Director of Federal Grants, the Food Program Manager is responsible for the overall development, implementation, coordination, management, and evaluation of the nutrition programs to promote an interest in nutrition, commitment to meeting children’s nutritional needs and an understanding of nutrition’s impact on youth development.
Duties And Responsibilities
Coordinate and conduct all activities related to monitoring functions of the participating centers utilizing the Child & Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Programs.
Directly responsible for completing monitoring visits, providing technical assistance to staff and members, and completing Corrective Action Documents as needed.
Provide documentation and assist with completing CACFP/SFSP certification and re-certification applications.
Claims Processing: Prepare and submit all required reports, conduct second review for monthly provider claims, enter claim data in each state agency database for reimbursement and process check requests, review all required meal count certification for accuracy and completeness.
Stay up to date on all CACFP and SFSP guidelines and procedures.
Oversee the annual food program reviews and audits and provide information as required.
Training: Provide staff training as needed and provide the required on-site program monitoring, training, and technical assistance for food programs. Complete training requirements annually such as Civil Rights training while ensuring all staff have been trained upon onboarding.
Represent BGCCP in a professional manner to vendors, community partners and the general public.
Develop menus that meet established nutritional requirements for students.
Work cooperatively to develop and implement a cost-effective and efficient food procurement and inventory system that meets procurement policies for each state agency.
Assist with the evaluation of formal bids and make recommendations for the awarding of contracts for approval.
Approve and forward invoices and purchase orders for the food service department to the accounting department.
Develop and implement inventory and stock control protocols for equipment and supplies and recommend replacement and disposal of obsolete equipment as necessary.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
Involve key staff and/or Board members when appropriate in the grant submission processes.
Skills And Experience
Bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited higher education institution, in related field. A minimum of two years’ work experience in child nutrition program and a proven track record of accomplishment in this area.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board Members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies. Knowledge, understanding, and ability to perform all aspects of the job.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others. Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain oral and/or written contact with Development Team, Management Team, for the purpose of developing and managing grant proposals.
External: Maintain oral and/or written contact with donors, prospects, corporate leaders, and others for the purpose of investor cultivation, successful resource development, and raising the visibility and positive reputation of BGCGC in the community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Minimal physical effort is required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift and walk. Maximum unassisted lift = 50lbs. Average lift less than 25lbs. Requires the ability to use a computer, various software and database programs, keyboard, calculator, and typical office machines. Requires traveling by car to club facilities and community sites for meetings.
ENVIRONMENT:
Inside average office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Some outdoor activity.
