General Purpose:

The Floral Designer provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means providing outstanding customer service, keeping displays and coolers stocked, neat, clean and attractive, and being the final line for quality control in the department.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports to: Floral Manager, Floral Supervisor

:

§ Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service

§ Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams

§ When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand

§ Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counters, shelves and displays

§ Wrapping/packaging products attractively

§ Clean/prep fresh flowers upon delivery

§ Assist customers with selecting & arranging bouquets

§ Ability to create a simple corsage or boutonniere

§ Report inventory needs to manager and/or order merchandise

§ Create corsages and boutonnieres

§ Ability to learn the product line

§ Create everyday floral arrangements for cash and carry sale

§ Create silk and dried arrangements, wreaths and swags

§ Fulfill special orders to customer specifications

§ Take phone and Internet orders

§ Perform wedding and event consultations

§ Create all levels of wedding floral design

§ Create all levels of funeral floral design

§ Consult with customers formally and informally to understand their needs

§ Ability to stay on top of floral trends

§ Clean and prep fresh flowers

§ Complete cash register transactions

§ Keep workspace clean, safe & organized

§ Attractively wrap and package products

§ If assigned, receive, unload and inspect deliveries

§ If assigned, create bud vases and simple arrangements

§ If assigned, make bows

§ If assigned, purchase and order products

Physical Requirements:

§ Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

§ Carry garbage/boxes to compactors

§ Able to safely use knives and scissors

§ Stand for long periods of time

§ Ability to use hot glue gun

§ Ability to safely handle all floral tools

§ Use hand, wrist and arms

§ Repetitive motion – trimming and arranging flowers

Mental/Reasoning Requirements:

§ Basic math skills

§ Knowledge design techniques

§ Customer service/relations skills

§ Ability to learn & utilize new techniques

§ Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers

§ Knowledge of flower care and handling

§ Must be able to follow safety procedures
