Fitness Program Coordinator, Durham, NC


Full Time, Full Benefits Package/PTO, Paid Holidays


Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends.


Location: Position follows a hybrid model with your time split 50/50 between reporting in-person to our Durham client site and working remotely from home; subject to change based on client needs.


Travel: Up to 25% travel to local sites.

We are seeking a talented Fitness Program Coordinator (FPC) to support our corporate client site locations in the Durham, NC area. In this position, you will have the opportunity to put your creative talents to use in the following ways:


  • Supervise fitness team (fitness specialists, group exercise leaders, run/walk leaders)
  • Instruct group exercise classes; conduct training sessions and fitness tests, exercise prescriptions, and orientations.
  • Development, planning, coordination, marketing and/or implementation of designated health and fitness programs and events (Run/Walk Club, WellBeats, Fitness Incentive Programs, Transition to Fitness (RTW) program, Fitness Consultation Process)
  • Manage program delivery process, monitor quality, gather program outcomes data and measure results and report monthly to leadership
  • Fitness membership management for multiple fitness facilities (includes enrollment process, payroll deduction, maintaining contracts and positive relationships with 15+ fitness facilities, and ensuring monthly payments are sent to each facility)


What You Bring With You


  • This client site requires full COVID-19 vaccination and annual flu vaccination as an essential job function.   • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
  • Current Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of start date.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or related discipline and 1+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience.
  • Proficiency in fitness assessment and exercise prescription.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing and promotions.
  • Experience leading and supervising a team.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
