JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Head Golf Professional, the First Assistant Golf Professional assists in the management of all golf operations, including but not limited to; daily operation of golf course, golf tournaments, driving range, golf car fleet, golf lessons and clinics, and food and beverage on the golf course.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as first assistant to the Head Golf Professional, assists with hiring, training, scheduling, and managing of golf shop employees, cart attendants, and player assistants, and scheduling for golf shop employees and cart attendants.
- Actively oversees the daily operation of the golf shop, posts and reconciles daily business activity to standard accounting data forms.
- Prepares monthly course activity and assists with sales reports, maintains and orders inventories as needed, and provides input on the budget and learns the department’s budgeting process.
- Greets and services guests, manages the check-in counter, collects green fees, and sells merchandise, organizes tournament play and teaches group and private lessons.
- Marshals the golf course to ensure guests adhere to rules and playing procedures, monitors driving range facility and equipment, and manages the repair of the golf car fleet.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must possess basic computer skills and be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite and other similar golf applications.
- Knowledge in golf, driving range, and golf shop organization and management, as well as, cash handling and internal control procedures.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Must possess good communication skills and work cooperatively with other staff members and the general public.
- Must be able to work extended hours and be flexible to work as needed including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must possess excellent customer service and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of the organization and implementation of corporate outings, tournaments, and special events.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent plus 5 years in the golf industry is required. Must be a Level 3 PGA Apprenticeship or PGA member in good standing. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 75lbs. Gripping up to 25lbs. Stair/ladder climbing. Walking, sitting, bending squatting, reaching and standing. Works outdoors in both cold/hot temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
