Job Description

Lincoln-Goldfinch Law seeks a Financial Controller with experience managing at least $10MM in revenue to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will provide strategic recommendations for financial, tax, and investment strategies and will oversee and manage the financial activities and systems for the firm. The Controller will also help Lincoln-Goldfinch Law scale by communicating the strengths and opportunities of the Company’s financial health to minimize variances in the plan and reduce risk. The Controller will manage the Billing team and work closely with the Owner, COO, and CPA.

This is a remote position, thus we are considering applicants from across the United States.

Work Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally must be able to lift 15lbs

Compensation/Benefits:

Compensation for this role is commensurate with experience. Compensation:

$75,000 - $90,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

Supervisory Duties:

  • Oversees the operations of the Billing Department;
  • Manages the performance of Billing Department personnel by ensuring metrics are consistently met.

Primary Job Responsibilities Duties:

  • Undertake other duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly reports, such as the PL, Cash Flow Report, Balance Sheet, Budget Reports, Trust Balance Report, Cash Flow Forecast, Work in Progress Report, etc.; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or reporting standards
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage and negotiate policies, including corporate and professional liability, property, and EPLI
  • Produce and manage the annual budget and forecasts across departments; reports significant budget variances to management with proposed solutions;
  • Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the Company's performance;
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements;
  • Maintain a relationship with CPA to ensure accurate financial reporting;
  • Oversee accounts receivable functions to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable, including managing billing questions and concerns from clients, collecting client payments, managing past due invoices, and handling chargebacks;
  • Perform the accounts payable functions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices and operating expenses, including purchase orders, IOLTA accounts, company credit cards, petty cash, and wire transfer accounts;
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to the CFO and Owner, with emphasis on capital investments, tax strategy, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations;

Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing at least $10MM in revenue (Required)
  • Experience in the legal services industry (Required)
  • Thorough understanding of finance and accounting principles and planning
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
  • Team player
  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role (Required)
  • Proficient with Google Suite
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all management levels in the organization
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills: the ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Positive attitude

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required; a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is a huge plus.
