Financial Analyst - Internal Medicine

This Financial Analyst will be responsible for proving accurate financial information in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manner to assure responsible stewardship of the Allergy/Rheumatology and Infectious Diseases divisions within Internal Medicine by reviewing, tracking, and preparing documents in compliance with established policies and procedures.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Financial Oversight and Budgeting

• Conduct analysis of financial information to assist with budget preparation. Assist with the preparation of accounting reports and other financial information for other units.

Financial and Data Management and Analysis

• Gather and aggregate financial data from appropriate data sources, analyze performance.
• Develop annual divisional RVU and expense budget. Compare actual to budgeted. needs based on execution of strategic goals.
• Maintain reports on clinical productivity and present to divisional/departmental leadership.
• Review clinical templates/schedules and clinical productivity metrics. Collaborate with appropriate parties to implement process improvements.

Compliance with Policies, Regulations and Laws and Operation Oversight

• May contribute to implementation of policies and procedures. May perform external reporting requiring compliance with reporting standards.

Transaction Processing

• Transaction processing is minimal but may result from analytical work.

Qualifications
Education Required

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in computer software applications.
• Excellent problem-solving, customer service and conflict resolution skills as demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with individuals and/or teams.
• 2 years' experience working with analysis of complex data sets including collection and design.
• Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to exercise discretion in matters of confidential and sensitive nature.
• Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in a hospital and/or academic medical setting.
• Reasonable knowledge of University of Iowa policies, rules, and regulations.
