This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Field Technician for our Rifle, UT office. Be involved in projects with our Site Investigation and Remediation Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.


Rifle, Colorado (https://bit.ly/3JrtgL6) is a small town located on the beautiful Western Slope of Colorado, and centrally located 30 minutes west of Glenwood Springs; 1 hour northeast of Grand Junction, CO; 90 minutes northwest of Aspen, CO; 2 hours west of Breckenridge, CO and 3 hours west of Denver, CO.

Located directly on the Colorado River and near some of Colorado’s most popular tourist destinations, Rifle is the ideal location for adventure seekers. Residents enjoy skiing, fly fishing, hiking, camping, rafting, and mountain biking all located right out your backdoor. Rifle Mountain Park (popular with rock climbers) is located 16 miles north of Rifle and Rifle Falls, Rifle Gap and Harvey Gap state parks are close by. There is access to BLM areas Hubbard Mesa Open Area, Rifle Arch and the Roan Plateau. The Rifle Creek Golf Course is 6 miles north of the center of Rifle.
Rifle is home to the Garfield County Fair Grounds which hosts a weeklong extravaganza of family events and professional rodeos and bull riding.

Your Impact

  • Generate draft reports, tables, maps, and figures
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
  • Work on a small local team to responsively meet client objectives
  • Document and evaluate data
  • Collect field data for project completion at oil and gas locations

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • OGI (optical gas imaging) inspections at oil and gas locations
  • This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Experience with compliance inspections including stormwater and SPCC inspections
  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Safeland® training-AW2
  • 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER certification, which would also require being able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $21.16 - $31.74

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
