Field Technician Jobs

POSITION SUMMARY:

• This position supports three contracts for the Social Security Administration and will consist of IT hardware related tasks. These will include traveling to various sites within the US and unracking/reracking server equipment, deinstalling/reinstalling workstation setups (including docks, monitors, printers, keyboards, mice) and relocating equipment between sites. When not traveling, this position will help support a Hardware Depot located in Millersville, MD. This will consist of Repairing Laptops, processing tickets, Imaging laptops, and shipping/receiving equipment.

JOB DUTIES:

• Process Trouble Tickets
• Receiving
• Travel to various SSA locations and refresh LAN room equipment. This would consist of testing the existing equipment, removing it from a rack and setting it back up, then installing new equipment in a rack and configuring it.
• Every site will require the ability to capture job details, notes, and a signature in a QuickBase mobile app.
• Lead and support equipment relocations, equipment moves, installation of new LAN equipment, equipment refreshes
• Laptop Repairs
• Able to follow training and procedures for diagnosing and repairing laptops to boost refurbished inventory.
• Receive bulk shipments of IT equipment from 3rd party vendors from tractor trailers and smaller vehicles
• Supporting LAN Relocations (Travel)
• Coordinate with the SSA Help Desk to troubleshoot or resolve issues
• Imaging & Encryption
• Upon demand we will be required to image, encrypt, and test laptops, tablets, and workstations for shipping to end users anywhere in the world by applying SSA provided software image
• Supporting Hardware Depot (Millersville, MD)
• Provide installation and relocation services for IT equipment that hooks up to existing Ethernet Local Area Network LAN; including dual IT monitors, standalone personal computers, local and network laser printers, Single Device Setup (SDS) laptops, docking stations, associated peripherals and LAN equipment.
• Every site will require the ability to capture job details, notes, and a signature in a QuickBase mobile app.
• Required to move large pallets off tractor trailers to various location in a warehouse and unpack the equipment
• Must be capable of following published procedures for imaging and encrypting devices while maintaining a near error free standard
• Supporting Server Refreshments (Travel)
• Create and process Break/Fix & Out of Warranty tickets through QuickBase and CAPRs
• Ship items via UPS and weigh all items prior to shipping

• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50LBS
• Three (3) years of demonstrated experience with IT hardware
• Travel: Willing to travel to various SSA regions located throughout the United States and Territories
• Preferred experience with server removal and installation
• Valid US Driver’s License
