The Field Service Sterilization Technician is responsible to maintain, troubleshoot, service, and provide calibration, installation, preventive maintenance, and emergency service calls for steam sterilizers and washers, and other products as needed, for the Life Science Solutions Diversified Laboratory Repair (DLR) team. This is a field-based, customer-facing role. You'll enjoy independent work days and will solve routine operational problems without guidance, referring unusual problems to other technicians or supervisor.


Responsibilities:

  • Performance of service, installation, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on all types of laboratory sterilization equipment.
    • Technicians are expected to be able to test components, check for leaks, operate and read gauges, read wiring diagrams, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects, and perform mechanical repairs.
    • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
    • Calibrate process controllers.
    • Diagnose and correct cooling issues.
    • Keep accurate and neat maintenance records.
    • Work from engineering drawings for brazing and assembly of prototype refrigerated products.
  • Be prepared with appropriate completed service tickets, additional blank service tickets, and ticket book.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Complete paperwork
    • Explain/describe services provided.
    • Mark hours worked on each job accurately.
    • Be prepared with appropriate completed service tickets, additional blank service tickets, and ticket book.
  • Calibrate process controllers.
  • Work from engineering drawings for brazing and assembly of prototype refrigerated products.
  • Diagnose and correct cooling issues.
  • Keep accurate and neat maintenance records.
  • The work is performed under the general direction of the Sterilization Director.
  • Maintain an organized replacement parts inventory in service vehicle.
  • Mark hours worked on each job accurately.
  • Explain/describe services provided.
  • Technicians are expected to be able to test components, check for leaks, operate and read gauges, read wiring diagrams, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects, and perform mechanical repairs.
  • Hands on knowledge of electronics and sterilization equipment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with navigating a computer.
  • Must undergo a drug/background screening.
  • Comfortable working independently and without direct supervision. Flexibility to handle multiple, changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface professionally with customers.
  • Strong technical, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or GED, Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electronics, mechanics, or trade school, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to work overtime or sliding work schedule, as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Routinely lifting, lowering, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • COVID 19 vaccination is required.
  • Routine movement such as walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Performing work from floor level to above shoulder height. This may include the use of ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • Working in confined spaces and under variable temperatures.

Base Pay Range: $23-60/ hour
