Field Mechanic Jobs

Valfair Construction is hiring a Mobile Mechanic. Successful candidates will be dependable, with strong problem-solving skills and excellent safety record. We require a high school graduate or equivalent with secondary mechanical education or training. Experience with mechanical repair, trouble shooting, and services of Heavy Construction Equipment preferred. Other job requirements include work order documentation, good communication and organization skills. Job requirements include service repair for our fleet of trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. The ideal candidate has experience with Bobcat, CAT and John Deere equipment. Duties also include service and repair on our utility (1 ton), dump, and service trucks. We also maintain a small fleet of Ready-Mix Trucks and Semi Tractors. Trailers range from a small landscape trailers to all types of semi-trailers. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Good record keeping of maintenance and service required.
• Must be able to perform and complete equipment maintenance and repairs with limited or no supervision
• Service tech on call when construction crews are active.
• Must be able to pass drug test and physical
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions. Ability to communicate and explain equipment repair issues to customers (in person or via phone
• Perform repairs and service on all company equipment/trucks/trailers in the field.
• Prior DOT inspection experience a plus.
• Ability to work and function in all reasonable environments including, but no limited to rain, snow, high temperatures, low temperatures, dusty or muddy conditions, confined work spaces and remote work areas.
• Able to conduct routine maintenance in the field.

Must have adequate knowledge of equipment to be able to perform the following:

• Identify and research required parts for repairs
• CDL- Class B minimum
• Functional ability to read and understand manufacturers manuals and diagrams
• Minimum of 3 years diesel experience
• Some welding and fabrication experience required
• Understand hydraulic and electric schematics
• Travel up to 80% of the time
• Diagnostics of hydraulic, electrical, and air systems principals
• Set up and configuration of machine components including machine computers
