Job Description

Hill International is seeking a Field Inspector in San Juan, Puerto Rico/ US Virgin Islands


  • Identify items that require resolution in order to move a case forward. Troubleshoot these items, in collaboration with other team members, to develop appropriate and timely solutions.
  • Creates a detailed Damage Description and Dimensions
  • Identify trends within deliverables and coordinate with the team lead to provide follow up training as needed.
  • Documents and compiles damage claims
  • Review site inspection reports submitted by the vendors to validate compliance with program guidelines.
  • Review scopes of work and change orders submitted by vendors to validate cost reasonableness and compliance with program guidelines and quality standards.
  • Provides good customer service to applicants through prompt follow-up and a professional demeanor
  • Creates maps, photo markups, and sketches to supplement written reports
  • Participate in team meetings and provide status updates.
  • Adhere to department and company guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to the Inspections Team Lead.
  • Adhere to established program guidelines, standard operating procedures and documentation standards, within required time frames.

  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment and under stressful conditions.
  • Preferred prior experience in project management, residential/housing, and/or disaster recovery/mitigation (CDBG-DR or FEMA Programs) is an asset, although not required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a relevant field (ex. quality control/assurance, field inspections).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work in other program databases.
  • Travel and/or deployment may be required.
  • Prior FEMA disaster response and recovery experience.
  • Preferred technical background, prior experience performing quality control/quality assurance, and/or experience performing field inspections.
  • Full Covid-19 vaccination is recommended. Mandatory vaccinations and proof of vaccination are subject to client requirements, federal, state or local law.
  • Ability to evaluate completeness and quality of deliverables submitted in a timely manner.
  • Must be local to the project (US, USVI or PR).
