Position Summary:
The role of the Fiber Splicing Lead plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our services building fiber to our customers. Fiber Lead will be a leader within the fiber team.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The Fiber Splicing Lead is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt/hourly position with supervisory duties. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 6am-3pm. Some overtime work should be expected for this position including being on call for evenings once/month.
Travel:
Travel is expected for this position. A valid California Driver's License and Clean DMV is required.

The functions listed below are a portion of what is required for this position. The job functions will change along with location and may expand at any time. Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on construction projects; perform manual work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead assigned splicing personnel
  • Accountable for the overall field performance, including scope, safety, quality, schedule, implementation and customer satisfaction
  • Work flexible hours (which could include nights and weekends). On call schedule will be required typically every 5 weeks.
  • Analyze and recommend upgrade/expansion strategies
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision.
  • Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Assist in troubleshooting fiber circuits and other services
  • Perform site inspections and coordinate post-construction audits
  • Serve as a single-point of contact between management and assigned fiber splicing team
  • Create and maintain appropriate as build documentation updating management
  • Work with management to assigning work to field crews
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to translate data to strategy
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Must be able to work independently without supervision
  • Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds)
  • Strong communication skills are essential as is a cooperative attitude toward co-workers, customers and contractors
  • Ability to drive company vehicles (bucket truck) in a safe and responsible manner and operate hydraulic aerial lifts
  • Ability to climb poles using ladders and climbing belt as needed
  • Experience with fiber optic network documentation
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs)
  • Proficient with fiber equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope
  • Ability to interact effectively with other team members.
Pay Scale
$30 - 34 hour plus over time
