PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
Under the supervision of the Treatment and Accountability Court Administrator and the Drug Court Coordinator, the part time drug testing technician will accompany clients during the collection of urine for the purposes of the clients being drug tested. The technician will observe urine screens, fill out all the appropriate paperwork, and seal all urine appropriately to be shipped. This technician is responsible for adhering to all departmental policies.

NOTE: This is a part time position. Employee starts work at approximately 6:30AM and works 3 to 4 times per week.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Courtroom testimony if called upon.
  • Prepares logs and boxes for the purposes of the samples being effectively shipped.
  • Observes the client during drug screens to ensure the purity of the sample.
  • Reports any notable information to the Coordinator.
  • Accompanies clients from the waiting room back to the drug testing location.
  • Ensures that clients do not take anything into the drug testing room with them.
  • Fills out all paperwork and logs associated with the client's drug test.
  • Maintains inventory and assists with supply orders.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with persons, agencies, and other units of the criminal justice system who come into contact with the Drug Court Services organization.
  • Assists with routine maintenance of drug testing paperwork and equipment as well as cleanup.

  • Ability to work varied Schedule, including weekends and holidays ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as required.

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities acquired through the completion of a high school degree.
  • Possess good oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School or equivalent.

ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
