REPORTS TO: CTE Director FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:


  • This position involves maintaining the Cooper Ag Center and farm.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support the Farm Development Committee and Construction Projects
  • Equipment management and operation
  • Equipment Safety and Training
  • Oversee Chemical Storage / Application Procedures
  • Fertilizer / Chemical Injection
  • Available to assist day or night in the event of emergencies (i.e. calving, irrigation emergencies, unpredictable facility emergencies).
  • Report all suspected break-ins, emergencies or accidents immediately to the police department and then to school personnel as soon as possible.
  • Monitor student SAE projects and provide assistance to Ag program instructors as necessary (Cooper Ag center Projects only).
  • Available to take care of the Cooper Ag Center when on-site caretaker is away.
  • Hay production operations
  • Support the operation of production of agriculture systems to include:
    • Hay production operations
    • Irrigation application & (pivot, sub surface drip, sprinkler)
    • Scheduling
    • Fertilizer / Chemical Injection
    • Routine Maintenance and Repairs
    • Manage Cooper Ag Center Hay Sales Program
    • Livestock facilities and pastures systems
  • Manage Equipment Inventory
  • Perform regular inspections according to the conditions outlined by the Chino Valley Unified School District. Inspections will include all gates, doors, water supply systems, aquaculture pond gates, irrigation monitoring, livestock pens, and inspection and repair of perimeter fencing that may be damaged by livestock or vandalism. Any problems will be reported to the appropriate school personnel as soon as possible.
  • Perform Cooper Agriculture Center inspections during evening hours checking for unlocked gates, vandalism and/or other problems. A checklist will be completed and any problems found will be reported to the appropriate personnel.
  • Oversee Preventative Maintenance
  • Manage Cooper Ag Center Hay Sales Program
  • Livestock facilities and pastures systems
  • Maintain MSDS Files
  • Irrigation application & (pivot, sub surface drip, sprinkler)
  • Ask any students or adults to leave the school grounds if they do not have proper permission to be on the grounds. Make a written report to the high school administration of any such violations.
  • Manage Feeding & Cleaning Schedules
    • Equipment management and operation
  • Scheduling
  • Routine Maintenance and Repairs

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:


  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. is required.
  • Physical capabilities to operate heaving machinery and conduct continuous manual labor.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:


  • Farm machinery related experience desired
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
