Your Rock & Roll Dream Job Awaits! The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate music fans to join our team and help deliver a top notch, unforgettable experience for visitors from around the world.
Our Fan Engagement Musicians get the chance to show off their chops in a world-class museum featuring live music, public programming, and events! No prior museum experience needed, just your love of performing and working with people.

This position is a 90-day temporary assignment but could lead to a permanent part-time position and other Rock Hall opportunities.

Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Flexible availability. Availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays preferred.
  • Proficiency in music performance, preferably on multiple rock and roll instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals)

Preferred experience in the following areas helpful:
  • Bilingual capabilities a bonus
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Rock and Roll history
  • Customer service
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of downtown Cleveland area and activities

Summary:

The Rock Hall’s Fan Engagement Musician is a performing musician responsible for creating an engaging experience for Rock Hall guests while sharing their love of the history and sounds of rock and roll. This includes facilitating the Rock Hall’s Garage space, interacting with guests, helping visitors of varying skill levels, and working with the broader visitor engagement team to make sure that the Museum is providing the best quality service possible. They exemplify the Rock Hall’s Fans First philosophy, have a deep knowledge of rock and roll history, and have an enthusiasm for performing in front of crowds and delivering high-quality experiences to fans from around the world.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Works closely with other members of the Education & Visitor Engagement division, including but not limited to delivering Fan Engagement programming, Rock Hall Live performances, assisting with onsite educational programs, and working onstage in various guest services capacities.
  • Works in the Garage space. This includes (but is not limited to) facilitating jam sessions, performing with guests, helping visitors of varying skill levels, and encouraging participation.
  • Maintains and services Garage gear, including tuning instruments, changing strings and other maintenance tasks as needed.

Performs additional duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level:
  • High School degree or equivalent required.

Experience in Field:
Proficiency in music performance, preferably on multiple rock and roll instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals); ability to read sheet music (”Fake Books”, Ultimate Guitar charts) and experience as a live performer is preferred. Preferred experience in the following areas helpful:
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of downtown Cleveland area and activities
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Rock and Roll history
  • Bilingual capabilities a bonus
  • Customer service

Technical Expertise:
  • Knowledge and expertise of music gear and maintenance (including, but not limited to, tuning, string changing, and proper instrument set-up).

Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations:
  • Comfortable working with famous musicians & VIP guests.
  • Bilingual capabilities helpful.
  • Sets a strong example for others through collaboration and working consistently in a collegial manner.
  • Possess a passion for customer service and rock and roll.
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft Office, iOS devices
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to working with rock hall visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reference check, background investigation, and drug screen.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Parameters:
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to hear accurately to monitor radios and interact with the public. Demonstrate clarity of vision to distinguish date and time on admission tickets; judge distance and space relationships; identify and distinguish colors.
  • Type: Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word and to perceive nature of sounds.
  • Strength: Lift up to 20 lbs. (approximately).
  • Ability to perform tasks concurrently. Work involves walking or standing most of the time but may involve sitting for brief periods of time.

  • Two-way Radio, personal computer, telephone, instruments.

Aptitude Requirements:

  • Communication: Ability to be conversant in Rock Hall rules and procedures. Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions. Ability to answer inquiries from employees and visitors.
  • Administrative: Ability to complete forms. Ability to pay attention to detail and accurately distinguish data. Ability to organize and prioritize various schedules, data, and documents.
Manual:
  • Finger Dexterity: Ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work with fingers to operate above equipment. Ability to pick up a variety of items and place them on shelves; to move knobs, buttons or switches.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hands. Ability to shake, sort, fold or stack items; to place and retrieve items.
  • Motor Coordination: Ability to make necessary movements in selecting, picking and depositing items.
