Job Description
The School of Nursing at Hampton University invites highly motivated applicants for 9 and 12-month faculty positions in the Departments of Undergraduate Nursing Education (baccalaureate program) and Graduate Nursing Education (masters and doctoral programs). The school seeks full-time undergraduate faculty members for classroom and clinical teaching positions and full-time graduate faculty members for classroom, clinical, and distance education teaching positions. Experience in the following areas is needed: Adult Health, Maternal/Child Health, Pediatrics and Critical Care. Preferred qualifications include classroom, clinical, and simulation teaching experience. Candidates with online teaching, research and scholarship experience are preferred for the Department of Graduate Nursing Education.

Hampton University School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). It is located on the east coast of Virginia in the picturesque Hampton Roads area that includes the cities of Hampton, Williamsburg, Newport News, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Hampton University is a privately endowed, multi-cultural, co-educational, nonsectarian institution of higher education that serves approximately 5,000 students. The university seeks to motivate and prepare students to achieve at the highest academic level. At Hampton University, Students develop and demonstrate a sense of character within themselves and in their relationship with others. The university has two campuses, which are located in Hampton and Virginia Beach, Virginia. The School of nursing offers the undergraduate baccalaureate program at both campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and delivering didactic education, maintaining innovative clinical practice experiences, conducting scholarly activities; and engaging in service to the University and community. Additional duties include student advising and committee work. Faculty must sustain expertise in specialty areas in teaching, clinical practice, and professional development.

Qualifications

A minimum of a master’s degree in nursing is required in the undergraduate program. A doctorate (PhD, DNP, etc.) is preferred with a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the maters level or higher. Applicants who either have a well-established research program or have begun to develop one, and who are interested in collaborating with faculty from other disciplines are welcomed. Applicants must possess a Virginia Registered Nurse license from a compact state.
