Position Summary:
The factory Hygienist is the guardian and challenger of Pre-Requisite Programs to ensure systems are in place driving Food Safety and Compliance as the base for maintaining consumer trust and preference. The position assists with activities of Quality Assurance. Oversite of this position includes the Pre-Requisite Programs for factory sanitation, environmental monitoring, pest control program, and product protection plans as well as auditing for compliance against regulatory/ internal requirements and facilitating training.

Key Responsibilities:
People and know-how: Develop and maintain competences on Facility Prerequisite Programs including Zoning, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), by facilitating and providing training opportunities. Acts as primary contact for contracted services supporting sanitation and pest control. Provides oversite for factory sanitation. Participates in continuous improvement for the pre-requisite programs of the facility including review of third party contracted activities and development of goals and objectives.

Quality System: Setup, manage, enforce, analyze trends and verification activities related to Pre-Requisite Programs (zoning, pest control, personnel hygiene, sanitation, allergen sanitation, sanitary design, environmental monitoring). Ensure PRP Risk Assessment, Zoning assessment and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) are up to date. Participates as a comprehensive QA interface on engineering projects/installations including but not limited to hygiene, infant formula GMP, Validation, NMS/ISO/FSSC requirements. Utilizes, writes, and supports Product Protection Plans for the prevention of food safety or quality deviations to the processes and products.

Pre Requisite Programs/HACCP: Is able to identify and interpret Pre-Requisite Program verification activities and develop improvement initiatives. Is able to communicate and provide guidance on implementation and sustainment. Is able to get support from the relevant expertise required. Is able to demonstrate that PRPs are in place and managed as part of unit routines (supporting documentation, PRP verification & monitoring activities, PRPs robustness, and limited gaps under control) and act as subject matter expert for facility supporting HACCP.

Hygiene: - Act as a GMP champion, coordinating development of standards using NCE concepts and design and ensuring compliance to the internal Nestlé and external regulatory requirements. Able to apply the principles of NCE and continuous improvement in the work area.

Quality auditing and verification: Conducts GMP, foreign body, and pest control inspections, writes reports, and manages deviation documentation and gap closure. Participates in supplier/co-manufacture audits as required.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Demonstrated capability to lead a group, preferred supervisor position in a factory e.g., Quality Systems/Specialist, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred microbiology, chemistry or food science) or 3 years of hygiene related experience in regulated food or pharmaceutical industry
  • Different positions in Quality. Proven track record delivering results working with cross-functional teams. Work experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (such as pharmaceutical, food, and chemical, healthcare).
