JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician is assigned the responsibility for the site in regards to cleaning, minor maintenance, and grounds keeping, to make sure the production environment is in a suitable, compliant condition for Safe Food/Safe Feed - and/or FSSC certification to be maintained.

 

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm 

 

A TYPICAL DAY COULD INCLUDE:

  • Identify and communicate equipment repair needs through POET’s maintenance workflow system
  • Operate POET heavy equipment for maintenance and cleanup of process and grounds areas (skid steers, loaders, industrial vacuum equipment & other equipment as needed).
  • Aid in removing snow from sidewalks and roadways parking areas and spreading snow melting chemicals and sand.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental and food safety compliance at all times
  • Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skills may be put to a lot of other uses!
  • Remove dust, corn and feed products from facility grounds, building floors and walls on all levels and in all areas of the facility, including atop silos.
  • General grounds maintenance may include; mowing and weed maintenance, chemical application, and grounds debris removal.
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community
  • Sweep and power-wash floors, walls, and equipment in process areas utilizing industrial equipment for larger projects.

 

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently on various projects
  • General safety awareness and willingness to take direction on task completion
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change
  • Practical decision-making
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education
  • Valid Driver’s license

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
  • Push and pull with a force of up to 30lbs
  • Since we are all about team work, you may be asked to help other roles that have their own unique set of physical requirements.
  • Carry up to 50lb, with or without assistance
  • Be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): pressure washer, telehandler, end loader, forklift, bobcat sweeper, shovel, broom, shovel, ladder, and other heavy equipment.
  • Climb ladders and several flights of stairs
  • Occasionally:
    • Lift up to 50lbs, with or without assistance
    • Carry up to 50lb, with or without assistance
    • Be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions
  • Due to the physical and safety sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area

  • Grip with a force of up to 20lbs
  • Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Frequently:
    • Walk on slippery surfaces
    • Stand for extended periods of time
    • Climb ladders and several flights of stairs
    • Grip with a force of up to 20lbs
    • Push and pull with a force of up to 30lbs
    • Bend forward while standing
    • Use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area
  • This position is exposed to work in multiple environments. The team member may be exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions
  • Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments.
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
  • Bend forward while standing
  • Walk on slippery surfaces
  • This position is largely self-directed and requires a thorough understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.
