JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Baker is responsible for satisfying the needs of our customers by ensuring high-quality baked goods, cost-effective services, general sanitation, and cleanliness in the kitchen area.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Ability to bake in large or small quantities
  • Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils - segregate and remove garbage
  • Skillfully decorate and present baked goods in a visually pleasing way
  • Adhere to the standard menus and recipes to achieve high-quality, appealing finished baked goods
  • Assist with menu development, specify product standards, control and maintain food inventories
  • Promote, establish, and maintain a safe work environment for all employees
  • Set up/break down for catering events
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist with ordering and inventory as needed
  • Unload and stock food and other supplies from the delivery truck
  • Date and store foods in a walk-in cooler
  • Work with Facilities Administrative Assistants to ensure proper invoicing
  • Prep ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables
  • Prepare food per AK Food Regulations

SUPERVISION


  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's license, ready access to a registered vehicle, and must be able to provide proof of state-required insurance on a registered vehicle
  • Minimum one (1) year of commercial kitchen experience
  • Must have a current ADEC Alaska Food Workers Card or the ability to obtain one after hire
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening tests
  • Two (2) years of experience in quantity baking (from scratch) and quantity food production


WORKING ENVIRONMENT The work is performed in the kitchen setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. During mealtimes, the individual will work under pressure.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS An individual will be on their feet throughout their workday. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance.
