Position Summary
The Extra Help Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for the provision of occupational therapy services within her or his individual scope of clinical competence including: assessment and evaluation of factors that influence occupational performance; formulating conclusions regarding the patient/client needs and priorities to develop a patient/client centered intervention plan; and selecting and implementing evidence based interventions to support participation in areas of occupation. The Extra Help OT is also responsible for upholding professional standards and promoting quality in practice.

This position is primarily responsible for patients in an outpatient neurologic and oncology population. Preference for candidates with at least 1 year of experience with this population.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of a professional Occupational Therapist for an assigned caseload with emphasis on providing comprehensive care.
  • Direct Patient Care time (actual time with patients, may vary from scheduled) - includes all direct
  • Interventions and patient education that is integrated as a part of treatment session
  • Indirect Patient Care (IPC) - time spent in chart review, documentation (direct patient care documentation
  • As well as any other documentation related to patient care), scheduling, attending team or family meetings
  • And rounds (documented as clinic time), ordering equipment, assisting other staff
  • Responsible for administrative tasks related to the patient care services they provide, related to department operations, or required for regulatory and organizational compliance. This includes time sheets, case presentations, staff meetings, committee meetings, giving inservices.
  • Responsible for clinical teaching for students and student clinicians.
  • May provide academic teaching
  • Responsible for professional development and skills for self as well as sharing expertise and participation in development of the role of occupational therapy throughout the health system and within the community.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs) 1. Knowledge of techniques and procedures used in occupational therapy 2. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects 3. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treating of behavioral and affective disorders 4. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders 5. Skill monitoring/assessing the performance of patients to make improvements or take corrective action 6. Ability to plan and implement therapy 7. Ability to communicate effectively in the preparation of case reports 8. Supervisory ability 9. Ability to be socially perceptive, being aware of other’s reactions and understanding why they react as they do
  • 1. Licensure or Eligibility for licensure as a registered occupational therapist by the State of Illinois under the condition that they have been issued a letter of authorization from the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) allowing them to practice under supervision

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer at least 1 year of experience in specific setting
Prefer experience with Epic EHR
Prefer Spanish-speaking
