The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative individual to lead our Exhibits team as Exhibits Supervisor.

Position Description
Job Title: Exhibits Supervisor
Department: Exhibits
Reports To: Assistant Director of Facilities
Compensation: Anticipated Starting Salary $60,500 plus a comprehensive benefit package which includes medical with HRA, dental, vision, Life and LTD insurance, medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts, 403(b) retirement plan with Roth option, Staff membership, paid holidays, personal business time, sick leave, and vacation.

Summary
Working in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities and project management, the Exhibits Supervisor is required to manage the day-to-day requests for the animal and non-animal exhibits at the Museum. Working with Exhibits staff to maintain the highest level of quality exhibits that the Museum is known for. Utilizing the Museum's resources to produce the best interactive experiences possible for our visitors and the best exhibits for our animals in our care.

Essential Duties (including, but not limited to):

  • Work with department Record Keeper to manage and distribute exhibit work orders to Exhibits staff.
  • Working with Assistant Director of Facilities to establish and manage departmental budget for the fiscal year.
  • Working with Assistant Director of Facilities to plan and manage small and medium exhibits projects.
  • Supervision of the Exhibits Department staff, including all aspects of personnel management (scheduling, timesheets, performance appraisals, etc.).
  • Help Exhibits staff with emergencies and unplanned events.
  • Responsible for ordering and purchasing of Exhibits related items.
  • Responsible as the point of contact for subcontractors and designers (architects, engineers on projects) working on Desert Museum projects.
  • Responsible for training of new staff and continued education of existing staff members.
  • Work quality control/ follow up on work progress of Exhibits staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises two to three employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
