Position Summary: Within a team environment, the position is focused on the conceptualization, design development, prototyping and project management for experiential exhibition design, exhibit components and other design projects produced by CMP design team. The position requires coordination with environmental, media, web, acoustic, lighting, and accessible design. Highly collaborative design process with content developers, artists and exhibit designers will occur in developing creative direction and overall exhibit development and planning. Education: Bachelor's degree industrial design, architecture, art or a related discipline. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in the design industry or comparable experience, with a portfolio to support a variety projects and approaches. Skills:
  • Visits to job sites for client and partner meetings and to oversee installations. Clearances: FBI fingerprint, PA Child Abuse (Act 33) and PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearances are required.   • Excellent communication & collaboration skills Physical Requirements, and Equipment Usage:
  • Use computer aided design (CAD) to produce scaled design drawings for review/approval/coordination by coworkers and vendors; create three-dimensional scale models, quick concept sketches, and renderings as needed throughout exhibit design process; produce final construction and/or shop drawings for fabrication.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Autodesk, Fusion, SketchUp Pro, or other Autodesk CAD software.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and requirements, and follow Universal Design (UD) practices.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Local travel to visit artists' studios, galleries, etc; limited travel to conferences and special project-based site visits.
  • Participate in the conceptual development of museum and informal learning environments and interactive components, considering the user experience with the design team during all phases of project development.
  • Coordinate with independent contractors (artists, graphic designers, fabricators) to ensure effective integration with exhibition and interior design plans, schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in additional administrative and/or design responsibilities under the supervision of the Senior Director of Creative Experiences and/or Senior Exhibit Designer, as requested. Additional Responsibilities:
  • Some light lifting (of tables and material boxes) required.
  • Hand sketching
  • Budget forecasting, managing, and reconciling of expenses for each project.
