Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit children’s museum and IMAX Theatre located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Today Marbles ranks among the top family destinations in North Carolina providing learning experiences for children with creative programs, and larger-than-life movies. 

The Opportunity

Marbles is hiring a motivated part-time Exhibits Caretaker to join our team! This position plays an essential role in providing a clean and safe guest experience for the diverse families and groups we serve. The exhibits caretaker is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing exhibits, props, and multi-use spaces.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Deep clean the exhibits, weekly.
• Clean high-touch areas in the exhibits and exhibit components daily including the nursing rooms.
• Wash linens, props, and materials daily.
• Regularly communicates museum cleanliness needs and areas of concern to Director of Operations.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the manager.
• Clean and sanitize exhibit props, ensuring they meet superior standards for guest play experiences.
• Routinely dust all high surfaces in exhibit galleries.
• Clean and sanitize the courtyard area on a regular basis.
• Perform general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout the exhibits ensuring that they meet superior standards for guest play experiences.
• Assist with assigned cleaning products to ensure the highest standards for safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of the Marbles campus.

Experience & Skill Requirements

• Basic computer skills using email and teams messaging.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to work quickly, effectively, and responsibly without constant direction.
• Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to interact courteously with guests and teammates.
• Sufficient ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate.
• Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting, climbing stairs, crouching, standing and walking for 4 or more hours.
• General knowledge of basic cleaning procedures and techniques with specific protocol for child-safe cleaning products.

 Physical Demands

• Occasionally using a ladder, and going up and down stairs
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
• Walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting.

Schedule and Availability

• This is a part-time position. Scheduled hours will be Friday-Tuesday: 4pm-8pm (off Wednesdays and Thursdays).
