The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Enrollment, the Executive Director of Admissions Operations (grade 15) strategically manages all aspects of admissions and enrollment processes for the Columbia Business School, particularly focusing on process efficiency as well as data management and related software, including Slate. The incumbent will oversee the admissions processing lifecycle from inquiry to enrollment; implementing and maintaining the processes and systems needed to support the applicant experience and data integrity with a focus on quality assurance; ensure compliance for all data related to student admissions and enrollment-related policies; serve as a system administrator for the admissions application system; and provide robust reports and dashboards with summaries on application data as well as operational productivity. The Executive Director develops and contributes to long-term goals for the Admissions Department that are aligned with overall Business School strategy.

The Executive Director of Operations will contribute to meeting enrollment goals using a comprehensive data-driven admissions strategy by supervising the Operations team and utilizing data to make recommendations. The incumbent must have demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage operations, and implement process improvements. The Executive Director will oversee the admissions processing lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and train the Admissions operations team
  • Initiate and implement process improvements that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the admission process.
  • Direct and supervise application processing including interview scheduling and verification of credentials of admitted candidates.
  • Direct the use of Slate CRM and other tools to ensure an applicant-friendly experience that also meets data needs of the school and supports the marketing and recruitment efforts of the department.
  • Oversee launch and update of applications for all degree programs.
  • Ensure data integrity between Admissions Systems.
  • Work closely with Dean’s Office Data Analytics team to provide data for schoolwide reporting.
  • Responsibility for strategic planning and execution of Enrollment Staff training.
  • Manage Budget utilization and reconciliation for the Department.
  • Act as Liaison to Columbia Business School IT to assist in development project management plans for departmental web and technology needs. Also, manage website for Enrollment Management areas.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with staff at “partner” schools with whom we have dual degree or specialty programs.
  • Represent Columbia Business School at peer school group meetings and Membership Organization Meetings
  • Occasionally travel to represent Columbia Business School.
  • Performs other relevant duties as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of 7-9 years related experience required. Master’s Degree or MBA strongly preferred. Knowledge of MBA Admissions strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) and work evenings and weekends required.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and oral communication, and computer skills required (proficiency with MS Office Suite).
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple responsibilities is an asset.
  • Candidate must possess strong skills in diplomacy, tact, and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Admissions CRMs (or similar tools) to manage application processing and systems integrations.
